John (“Jack”) Teal, Jr. primarily handles civil litigation.  For over 30 years he has represented parties in disputes involving business transactions, construction projects, real estate transactions, trusts and a variety of commercial transactions.  Additionally, he represents businesses and business owners providing business advice and representation.

 

Before joining Kendrick, Jackson & Kearl in 2007, Mr. Teal practiced for six years with an Irvine firm with a state-wide reputation for handling complex construction litigation.  During that time he tried or arbitrated cases in Orange, San Diego, Riverside, Los Angeles, Shasta and Imperial Counties.  During his career Mr. Teal practiced with Rutan & Tucker and Hart, King & Coldren, two of the largest firms in Orange County.  For 16 years he was a principal with Speers Dana Teal Balfour & MacDonald, a 10 lawyer firm he co-founded in 1978.

 

Mr. Teal holds a Certificate in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine Law School, Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, which he received in 2004.  He received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, California, in 1973.  During law school he was a member of the law review.  Mr. Teal received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1969.

 

Mr. Teal is admitted to practice before all California State Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Central, Southern and Eastern Districts of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Northern District of California, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.  He is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the California State Bar Association.
